I loved this one and I think that was a big part of it. I loved his exploration of seeing our childhood through our memories. Do we make things worse/better? Do we misunderstand things or distort them in our own minds? I loved it. I didn't enjoy it quite as much as I did The Graveyard Book or Neverwhere, but I think this one is going to linger much longer.
For more about - All Inclusive Alaska Bear Viewing Tour Packages, click hereCleo Rogershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12322708573418575088noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543330341390707771.post-55454603875115914512014-01-21T09:04:44.255-05:002014-01-21T09:04:44.255-05:00I'm pretty divided on Gaiman's works too, ...I'm pretty divided on Gaiman's works too, but I did love this one.Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07026099426503180472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543330341390707771.post-1851645970517581492014-01-18T14:31:30.588-05:002014-01-18T14:31:30.588-05:00I do not love Neil Gaiman either, but a lot of peo...I do not love Neil Gaiman either, but a lot of people have said that even if you are not a huge fan that you should pick this one up. I wasn't sure how I'd take to this one since it's technically not YA (Gaiman says), but it sucked me right in.Andihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05220718933942181809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543330341390707771.post-53695634088795724632014-01-17T12:15:37.436-05:002014-01-17T12:15:37.436-05:00I really do want to read this book! i'm a priv...I really do want to read this book! i'm a private duty na for an elderly lady and I went to her book club meeting a few days ago. They all shared what books they had gotten for Christmas, and one sweet lady from Germany had this book, which I found delightful. I really hope I'm still reading Gaiman in my 80s!Kate @Midnight Book Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01220575670960466054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543330341390707771.post-30472587450648231452014-01-17T11:25:35.163-05:002014-01-17T11:25:35.163-05:00I feel similarly about Gaiman. From what you say, this book should be thematically interesting to me, though, so I'll add it to the perpetual 'to-read' list.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17788626802776719414noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543330341390707771.post-53127368122418235872014-01-17T08:44:33.911-05:002014-01-17T08:44:33.911-05:00I read this one back in August (and reviewed it he...I read this one back in August (and reviewed it here: http://amusicalfeast.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-ocean-at-end-of-lane.html) and what has struck me ever since is how varied the responses of bloggers have been. I think that's the mark of a great book, that so many people can get dwell on very different themes. I didn't love this Gaiman novel, mostly because of the pessimism I read into it, but I have LOVED hearing everybody else's thoughts. Thank you for your musings about memory and time - that's not a perspective I thought much about as I read it!Samanthahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04233753953845020779noreply@blogger.com
