Reading this though I wonder at why it was Susan who lost her innocence and playfulness and couldn't come back... but the boys didn't. I wonder at what that says about sexism and women growing up as opposed to men. Hmm.. Interesting thoughts :)Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18102250492155489672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543330341390707771.post-26888147075224465812010-12-03T23:04:09.306-05:002010-12-03T23:04:09.306-05:00I haven't read this series in quite a long tim...I haven't read this series in quite a long time, and you have definitely inspired me to pick them up again.Trishahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13917705393662132891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543330341390707771.post-51113222329610293262010-12-03T21:29:40.562-05:002010-12-03T21:29:40.562-05:00I'm very slowly making my way through a re-rea...I'm very slowly making my way through a re-read of this series (as my 'in-between' books), and I really enjoyed reading your thoughts. There certainly is a magic to them, but also a depth I hadn't really noticed the first time around. I suppose that is why they have lasted so long. They're all so great I don't think I can pick a favorite, but I think I'll always have a nostalgia for the very first one I read, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543330341390707771.post-50223518836997004612010-12-03T18:04:09.158-05:002010-12-03T18:04:09.158-05:00Ok, first of all, I LOVE the cover art you posted ...Ok, first of all, I LOVE the cover art you posted for the Narnia series!! Do you know where one can buy this set? Even though my Dad bought me some of these books for Christmas when I was a kid, I have never read any of the Narnia series!! And, I have no idea what happened to the books he bought that I never read. Oh well. After reading your post, I think I am going to add this series to my list at some point!Careyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00790511143418221867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543330341390707771.post-67384856418045181182010-12-03T14:01:11.258-05:002010-12-03T14:01:11.258-05:00I love Narnia!! I've never cared much for The Magician's Nephew and can't see readers getting drawn into the series nearly as well as if they'd started with The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Since you can't go back and shake your child-self, you'll just have to make it your mission to shake all the children you know so they won't have the same regret when they grow up. ;)Kathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15867744753830511111noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543330341390707771.post-89358996081643874022010-12-02T19:11:08.801-05:002010-12-02T19:11:08.801-05:00I have never read The Chronicles of Narnia! You know, I wonder if you'd have liked them better if you'd read them in the order they were written, which is how I read them. TLTWATW was the first book, and then the rest are in the same order as yours except The Magician's Nephew which is the 6th (second to last) book.
