R.I.P. VII Sign-up.

While I might not be doing the greatest with the challenges I am already signed up for, why not sign up for something else? :)

I actually signed up for this one last year, and if I do recall, I failed miserably at getting through the titles on my list.

This year, I am not going to be as hard on myself. With everything else I have going on, there is no reason to add more stress, right?

In any case, I stared at my bookshelves and my Classics Club list to come up with some titles that I can read for the challenge. I'm pretty excited about the titles I have set aside.

I am officially signing up for Peril the First, a level where I need to read four books. Here are the titles I am considering:

The Monk by Matthew Lewis
The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins
The Turn of the Screw by Henry James
The Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliffe

I think I am in for some great reading! If you are interested in joining in on the fun, make sure to visit the sign-up page!

  1. I am nervous about The Mysteries of Udolpho, but I am going to attempt it. I believe you should take some time to enjoy this season, no matter how much you get done. Just enjoy it :-)

  2. The Monk!!! Absolutely one of the best RIP books I've ever read. It's not high literature. It's completely silly pulp, but it was SO MUCH FUN to read. I might revisit it this October. :D

  4. Good luck with the challenge. I do horrible with them myself. Too much pressure but I know they help a lot of people stay motivated.

  7. I'm going to read The Monk this year too. And I've been considering picking Udolpho back up and finishing it. I read a portion of it last year but wasn't moving quickly through it and so I set it aside. I love The Moonstone too and wish I had time for a re-read!

  9. Yes! The Monk! I knew I had forgotten to list a book for R.I.P. VII. There appear to be readalongs for both Udolpho and The Italian. Not sure whether I can fit both of them in one month o__o Good luck with completing your Peril level :)

  10. I'm thinking about reading The Turn of the Screw for R.I.P. also, but I'm more likely going to read The Woman in White since I keep seeing people say how wonderful it is.

  12. I read and liked (enough) the first three, but haven't yet read Udolpho. I'm so out of the blogging world these days,b ut maybe I'll get The Tenant of Wildfell Hall read. I'm in the middle of Frankenstein right now. So far so good. Enjoy Wilkie Collins. I love his novels. :)
