I had a decent last hour. It included a visit from my mom and sister, who brought me dinner in the form of a delicious salad with bleu cheese, cherries, walnuts, and chicken. Now that my tummy is full of goodness, I feel like I need to be slightly more productive than I have been since coming home!
Here is this hour's activity!
Mid-Event Survey:
1. What are you reading right now? I am still in the middle of The Call of the Wild. I am also switching off with The Brothers Karamazov, but I think I need to complete one or the other.
2. How many books have you read so far? I have finished 2, but I have been switching between 3 for the last couple of hours. Nothing seems to be holding my attention!
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? I think I pull out an Austen for something different. Many of books are dark and mysterious today and I think I am in need of something a little more lighthearted and romantic.
4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day? No. I worked an 8-hour shift this morning at the park, but I managed to banish myself into the permit booth so I could read.
5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? Quite a few! Work mainly, as well as the visit from my mom and sister. But they were needed and necessary. The husband will come home from work at 9:30 or so, and I am assuming I won't have quiet after then, so I might need to hide out in the bedroom to read.
6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? I love the community feel! I have had a lot of new visitors today, which is making me pretty excited!
7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year? I almost feel like the challenges and such should be updated every other hour, as opposed to every hour. I wish I could spend more time participating in them, but then that is less time reading!
8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year? I am definitely NOT working the day of!
9. Are you getting tired yet? Yes, since I have been up since 3 am!!
10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered? I have been mixing it up. The variety is helping to keep my attention. I also read a book of short stories, which was a great reading experience overall. I felt like I was reading more because each story was different, and didn't drag on and on and on.
