Questions for my Readers:

I have been mulling a few things over in my head about some things I would like to do on the blog in the coming months. But I have a couple of questions that I would appreciate your HONEST input on!

  1. I am thinking about hosting a read-along a month on certain classics. If I did this, would you be interested and would you participate?
  2. What books would you be interested in for read-alongs?
  3. Should I change the way I write posts in anyway?
  4. Is there any piece of information you would like me to add on my "book stats" posts?
  5. I would like to offer posts to anyone who reads a classic and would like to post. I was thinking of doing an interview on the classic read to offer some more variety and opinions. Would you be interested? Do you already have a book I can interview you on?
  6. What would you like to see more of?
  7. Any other comments, questions??
Thank you. I would really appreciate any feedback you can offer!

  1. I'm new to your blog, but I do sometimes get confused with the multiple posts on one book. I understand why you do that and I don't mind, it's just sometimes when I see you post about a book I think it's a review then discover otherwise. On the other hand, I absolutely love reading your thoughts. It's rare to come across blogs that are so classics-heavy!

I would also be interested in doing classics readalongs as long as they weren't scheduled out X number of chapters per week. If we just say "this book this month" then I'm okay with that. I just have trouble reading on schedule. I'd be willing to read along with many books, though I tend not to read epic poetry. And I HAVE read many classics already so if they're repeats of ones I've read and I'm not looking to reread them, I'll probably skip. But I think that's okay, too, to have people participate as they want/can?

  2. If you've been reading books that aren't classics at all, I think it'd be really neat to see what else you've been reading sometimes! I know you are trying to work your way through the classics, so I'm not sure if you've been reading anything else.

  3. Like Amanda, I'd love to participate in a read-a-long, but I'd like it even more if it was until the end of the month, not 'x' chapters per week. I'd love to get classics that are getable all around the world (I'm from Mexico and sometimes I don't find some books here).

I love the way you write posts, this is why your blog is so original! But I'd love to read some of your favourite quotes at the FINISHED post of each book.

For number five, yes and yes, that would make your blog like a community, and that's interesting!

I'd love to see more your Thursday-Treats because it's like a little bit of freash air after so many classics and we get to know your opinions and reviews about the modern books and authors.

I think you'd update your blog twice a day (you know, two posts per day... one in the morning and the other in the night) because sometimes I need to read more of what you write and know more about each book!

I LOVE your blog... it's great to have someone who writes and reads the classics in a modern-book-blog-world... thank you for giving us a wonderful blog to read about classics we haven't read and knowing them so we can read them in a not-so-far-future. Also, you're helping me to be more in love with the subject I'm going to study at University this fall (English Literature) and your posts help me to understand some difficult books (aka Mrs Dalloway).

Thank you and Keep on Blogging!

  4. I would like a readalong, because it'd bring more interaction to your blog, I think. I do agree with the previous commenters that a date on which to discuss the whole of the book might be better than a number of chapters a week. Also, I'd recommend trying to stick to classics of around 300 pages, 600 pages do put people off of readalongs, I think. Or at least it'd be harder to finish at a certain date.

I do like the way you post although when you post an introductory post and a review of one book in one day it seems a bit much at times. I also have the feeling that the blog could do with more interaction, maybe responding to comments for example? I'm not sure what could be improved though and my own blog is far from perfect.

I do really love your blog. I hope you don't mind what I said.

I also like the idea of featuring a classic someone else is reading once a month. I'd be interested, although I have no clue on which book to pick.

  5. My comment will probably seem pretty pointless, but I'm all for doing what works best for you and what your life demands. I do love classics, which is what makes your blog stand out for me. I'm definitely open to a readalong, although my participation would depend on whether it's something I've read or not.

  6. I would love to do a read along. I have to be honest and say I am kind of intimidated by a lot of classics so I think having others read with me will help :)

  7. I love the way you blog and wouldn't change a thing

Since I use Google reader I don't notice how many posts you do in a day and I've gotten used to your format. I might be up for a readalong depending on if the book is on my TBR list. I would also be happy to do an interview on a Classic I've already read. :)

  8. I definitely would like to do a read-along, and I also have a few books that I've recently read that I think would be great for the interview, if you'd like.

I wouldn't mind if there were a more... regular schedule to your posts, if only because I never know when to check back - when I do check, you haven't posted in a while, but then I don't come back for three days and suddenly I've missed all the posts about a book and the first 2 for another. I'm a creature of habit, if I don't have a schedule, I often don't do it >.<

That being said, I do my best to keep up with you anyway :)

  9. I think a read-along would be great- depending on what is was. I've read quite a few of the books you've reviewed and haven't read others, so I'm sure there would be something of interest.

  10. I think a read-along would be great! I've participated in two this year and enjoy the conversations that go along with them.

I think your blog is wonderful and the concept is fantastic. The only suggestion I would give is that when you do updates on the book you're reading label it as such, because I do get confused as to whether it's a complete review or not. Keep up the good work!
