I don't know if you noticed, but if you look in the left column of my blog at my progress, I have read 124 books from my list, and I have 126 to go! This means that book 125 is a big deal, as it marks the completion of half of my project. :)
I have no idea what book to read next. I feel like this is a big deal, so I should be reading something excellent. I am taking this week off to read some "fun" reads I've had sitting around the house, so I would love it if you would vote in the poll in my sidebar to help me decide. :) I picked books by some of my favorite authors (Wharton, Steinbeck, and Woolf), as well as some titles I have neglected (Plath, Scott, and Hawthorne). I think any of them would make a good halfway-point selection!
Thanks guys!
I went for the Woolf (just because!).
ReplyDeleteI picked Wharton because she's one of your favorites. You should read something cozy for Book #125. :-)
ReplyDeleteWoop woop for being halfway through! I found it almost impossible to choose between The Grapes of Wrath and The Bell Jar (two of my all time absolute favourites!) but I went for Steinbeck in the end :)
ReplyDeleteI went for Woolf - To The Lighthouse got me into Virginia Woolf, so it's special and I want everyone to love it :)
ReplyDeleteI voted for The Bell Jar, which is one of the most amazing books I've ever read, but I'd be happy with The Grapes of Wrath too. Too bad I can't vote twice! :D
ReplyDeleteHurrah! I picked Grapes of Wrath and it looks like that one's winning. I haven't actually read it but would love to!
ReplyDeleteHope the fun reads give you a big dose of...well...fun. ;)
I've read all but Lighthouse and Ivanhoe, so I can't speak for those, but the others provide a great selection. I voted for The Age of Innocence because even though I loved The House of Mirth more, it's still Wharton. I think that would make your half way point special. Grapes and Bell Jar are both amazing too!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Such a great milestone. I voted for The Bell Jar, but I agree with Jill- you should read something you feel comfortable with for the 225th book. If Wharton does that, then go for her! :)
ReplyDeleteI went for the Bell Jar because I love it. Hope you enjoy whatever you end up reading :)
ReplyDeleteI had to pick Steinbeck. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI was going to go with Steinbeck because The Grapes of Wrath is on my reading list for 2012, but voted for The Scarlet Letter instead because a) I like it and b) after you read it you can watch the movie Easy A if you haven't already seen it. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being almost halfway there! I voted for The Grapes of Wrath because I loved it when I read it earlier this year for The Classics Circuit.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on hitting number 125! That's awesome. I voted for Wharton because I read The Age of Innocence earlier this year and adored it.
ReplyDeleteOh I voted for Grapes of Wrath, because I love it, but I also would have liked to vote for Age of Innocence and The Scarlett Letter.
ReplyDeleteWow, you're almost halfway! Congratulations! Enjoy your fun reads (and hopefully 125).
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on finishing book number 124! It's impressive. I voted for The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton. Best of luck for the rest of your journey!
ReplyDeleteI am a teacher too and am about your age. I am working at a university and I do enjoy it but it has its ups and downs. :-)
I had a hard time choosing -- it was a tossup between Wharton and Steinbeck, two of my favorites. I love Wharton but I like Ethan Frome and House of Mirth better, so I went with Grapes of Wrath. Both are great.
