An Unofficial Read-a-thon.

I am in a bit of a reading rut. Since finishing the third volume of War and Peace some time ago, I haven't been reading. At all.

It has gotten so bad that when I finish posting my thoughts on The Lost World by Doyle this weekend, I will be completely CAUGHT UP on the classics I have read for my project. This will be the first time I am caught up on them since LAST DECEMBER.

(I should point out that I will still have the Percy Jackson series to post reviews on, but that is one big review.)

I think I am having a reading crisis.

Nothing is grabbing my attention and I am struggling with my lazy side.

Instead of coming home and reading at night like I should, I have been vegging out in front of the TV. This is not good.

So, as a way to kick myself in the pants and take advantage of the 4-day weekend I have this weekend, I am going to be having an unofficial read-a-thon for myself. I just want to get some reading done.

Since I have Saturday through Tuesday off, I am planning spending Saturday and Sunday reading as much as possible (heck, if I am feeling super ambitious, I might spend Monday reading as well). If any of you want to join in for a couple hours, a day, or the whole weekend, let me know. I will be posting my progress a couple times each day, so you can all check up on me and make sure I am not slacking.

Anyway, I thought I would pass this along to see if I can find some company for myself!

  1. You and Christina both...

I'd join you for readathon except I just did one of those and I'd feel bad doing another so quickly...

  2. Good luck. I had a bit of a reading slump after I got through half of A Suitable Boy. I felt like I had been reading for so long I just needed a big break. I tried to force myself but it just made it worse and I had to start fog ive up on a lot of books until I found the right one to get me back into the swing of things.

I hope that your readathon works for you!

  3. I am in a rut as well and would love to join you. My only problem is that I'm out of town til Sunday evening, so if you're still read-a-thon-ing on Monday, I'm there!

  4. Great idea! Sometimes all you need is a few hours with a good book and you are back on the horse. Good luck and have a great weekend!

  6. I work all day Sunday, but Saturday looks good for me, and most of Monday. I work all day Tuesday though, but I'll be cheering you to the finish line even if I'm not online. :)

  7. A readathon sounds fun! I had already planned on spending most of the day Sat or Sun just reading. I've got a lot of catching up to do. I went through a slump at the beginning of the month and I'm still climbing out of it. I think I read too much in January. My brain needed to watch more TV and spend more time with my iPad.

  8. Hmmm...maybe I should join you--I've really not got much read at all this year. Very sad. I'll have to see, though, I've got way too many other things I'm trying to get finished. Maybe if the next two days are really productive....

  9. That's so funny, I had decided to do an unofficial readathon on Saturday myself.

  10. Enjoy the readathon, Allie! I'm watching my brother this weekend (he's 14), so I'm guessing I'll have my hands too full to read. I'm terribly behind in Joyce--as I haven't read anything in two weeks!--so I might try to sneak in a few pages.

Usually if I'm in a rut I just let it pass--when I try to force myself to do something, it just isn't enjoyable. Good luck!!
